Nothing seems to be easier than seeing someone whom you can help but not helping.
I suggest we start giving it a try. Give love to the ones that need it.
God will appreciate it.

Also, comments with ad hominem attacks or that include profanity will be deleted in the future. I welcome comments that disagree, so long as they present a reasoned argument. However, if it's clear you're just being nasty, then it's gone.

No, the message is pretty obvious: "Don't club seals". However, this particular message has been discussed ad nauseum by others, and it's not the topic of this blog. The reason I'm picking apart the delivery and ignoring the message is because THE DELIVERY IS THE TOPIC I'M WRITING ABOUT!

Sometimes the delivery is more important than the message. The delivery here is mindless emotional propaganda, and I find it disturbing that our society (you included) accepts such a delivery as ok without batting an eye. I think it's evidence of a fundamental decay in American culture, which is more significant than the clubbing of a couple seals. That's why I'm writing about the delivery and not the message.

Since the people ending up here seem to be animal activists instead of my intended audience, and since I also care very much about the environment (though I think it's ok to hunt animals in a sustainable way), I will make another observation:

While seal clubbing looks very ugly in pictures, it's not threatening the existence of the seal species. This cause isn't a good use of our time as environmentalists. There are far worse things happening in hundreds of other places: Thousands of species are going extinct from deforestation. Thousands of people are dying of starvation because of soil depletion and unsustainable land use. We are about to pass the global warming point of no return. The vast amounts of methane hydrate in the arctic are 1 degree away from melting, and the last time that happened, half the life on earth died off. I know trees aren't as cute as seals, but surely these are more important things to fight for?

Major ass. What a great way to avoid the real issue. Let's pick apart the delivery of the message but completely miss the message itself. Whatever makes you feel better, buddy.

Hi Digital-Glamour...

The first comment someone has left me and, sadly, I'm not sure if it's genuine or porn spam. Be warned - the link takes you to naked women. It's not a porn site, though, and I can't figure out this company's business model. It looks like a real photography portfolio for a modeling agency, but there's no phone #, no email, no contact info; NOTHING! Just names and pictures of women, some of them naked. They have porn names, like Joy and Vicki, but no one is trying to take my money! The only thing I can think of is that Digital-Glamour does photography for the porn industry, and this is a portfolio of their work. If it was advertising I'd remove the comment, but I can't really call it that, since even if the pics had made me super-horny and I desperately wanted more, I'd have no way to get a-hold of them. So I guess the comment stays up.

Digital-Glamour: if you really are leaving people genuine comments with a link to that website as the signature, you should include a note about the contents - some people are offended by nudity, and it's just common courtesy. On the other hand, if you're just commenting to advertise, screw you.
